Pumpkin season is in full swing and here at High Calorie Recipes, we take advantage of it! Our Pumpkin Spice Shake is high calorie, delicious, and easy to make.

Whether you’re looking for a sweet treat at the end of the day to meet your calorie goals, or an easy snack, this Pumpkin Spice Shake is a great option.

The Flavor of the Season

Pumpkin is a popular fall flavor, and for a good reason! It is versatile, nutritious, abundantly available, and tastes great! This is why we created our high calorie Pumpkin Spice Shake, to celebrate the flavor of the season.

The reason pumpkin is commonly associated with fall, is because they primarily grow during this season. It is much harder to cultivate pumpkins during other seasons like spring or summer. Along with corn, pumpkins are one of the oldest known crops! They have been cultivated in North America since 3500 BC and were a vital vegetable for Native Americans.

The spice blend itself was a popular option in baking for pumpkin pies. Eventually, spice manufacturers, like McCormick, created a pre-made blend of the spices for easier baking. The rest is history!

Our Pumpkin Spice Shake combines actual pumpkin for creaminess and pumpkin pie spice for a delicious ode to the season of fall!

Nutrition content of pumpkin itself includes fiber, beta carotene (think carrots), and vitamin C. If you choose to use an actual pumpkin for this recipe, or have leftover pumpkins from halloween, don’t throw out the seeds!

Baking pumpkin seeds is a delicious way to add more minerals into our diet like magnesium, copper, phosphorus, and zinc!

Pumpkin Spice Shake Ingredients

You may already have many of these ingredients on hand!

  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Whole milk
  • Vanilla ice-cream
  • Canned pumpkin
  • Pumpkin pie spice
  • Whipped cream: optional

This recipe is higher in sugar-and that’s a good thing! Sugar is a calorie dense ingredient, making it a great option to add to a weight gain or maintenance diet. When we have to gain or maintain our weight, choosing calorie dense ingredients will make it so we do not have to eat large amounts of food to reach our calorie goals.

If you would like to increase the calories in this recipe even more, try using heavy cream instead of whole milk. It may make the shake a little more thick, you can add water to make the consistency thinner.

Instead of canned pumpkin, you can also use your own roasted and mashed pumpkin-or even butternut squash! Choose whatever you have on hand and make it your own.

Out of pumpkin pie spice? Try adding some cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves to your personal taste.

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Shake

This Pumpkin Spice Shake is easy to make and delicious to drink! Add all of the ingredients into a blender, blend until smooth, and pour into a cup! Add whipped cream on top and enjoy. If the consistency is too thick, try adding some water to thin it out!
