Making a Balanced Meal

Honey Butter Biscuits are a great addition to a meal! Creating a balanced meal is important, especially when trying to increase your caloric intake and eat higher calorie meals. Carbohydrate rich foods are an important part of a balanced meal and these Honey Butter Biscuits can be a great option!

How to create a balanced meal: the best way to make your plate is to follow the MyPlate guidelines! If you want to learn more about that, check out this website here. You want to split your plate into three sections; fruits & vegetables, grains, and proteins. Then you want your dairy on the side!

For a high calorie MyPlate, adding sauces or butter to your vegetables is a great way to add extra calories! Making at least half of your grains whole grains is important and will help add much needed fiber to your diet. Having our Honey Butter Biscuits are a great option to have as part of your plate, and adding the Whipped Honey Butter will add on calories!

For choosing your protein, you can opt for plant based options like tofu or halloumi, lean options like chicken or turkey, or a red meat like pork or chicken. Having sauces for your protein is also a great way to increase calorie intake, like a peanut sauce for chicken or ranch to dip your tofu in!

The MyPlate guidelines suggest low fat or fat free dairy and non dairy options, but for high calorie recipes we want to stick with full fat options. Full fat dairy and non dairy like coconut milk, are a great way to get extra healthy fats while adding more calories.
